Aurora had a team of four at the final Mount Linton endurance ride of the season, with three of Omen’s progeny, Raffeah, Mystique and Kass joining seasoned campaigner Mertz at Jeff Farm for the Cup Ride on Saturday.

It was breezy at times!

Lyn was back in the saddle on Raffeah, Kimberley on Mystique, Robin on Kassanova, and visiting Belgian rider Alexia Lastchekno taking up the reins on Woodlau’s Merlin in her first ever endurance ride.

Twas rather a breezy start to the day, especially up on the hills, with the flapping jackets and back numbers sounding like something out of this world! But the horses took it all in their stride, and had a great time checking out the scenery during their 40km novice ride.

The highest elevation on the track was 345m above sea level, and we were rewarded with great views of the stunning farmland below once we topped the highest rise.

The horses are now taking a well-earned break, though three will stay in light work for the upcoming Catlins Canter in March, and Mystique is heading home with Kimberley to carry on with her jumping training.
